Andrea Miller | The Producer

Andrea was born to parents who immigrated to the United States from South Africa in the 1960's. Andrea’s interest in immigration narratives and social activism has informed her grassroots community work and creative direction. Career highlights include producing 4 years of Arts + Culture enrichment programming with Living Peace Foundation, curating 3 installments of "One Peace" Pop-Up Art Exhibit featuring emerging/established visual artists and musicians as well as producing multi-disciplinary concerts entitled "Common Culture" and "Astral Progressions" in Hollywood. It is themes such as multi-culturalism, global citizenry, and the search for true identity that influence her work.

 

My Brightest Diamond | The Headliner

My Brightest Diamond is the project of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Shara Nova. As comfortable fronting a rock band as she is singing Górecki’s Third Symphony, her multi faceted career is informed by her mastery of composition and exploration into the electronic. Nova came from a musical family of traveling evangelists, studied operatic voice and then classical composition in New York City. Career highlights include singing in Laurie Anderson’s 2008 show “Homeland,” singing/recording for Pulitzer Prize winning composer David Lang, working with David Byrne, Fat Boy Slim, Sufjan Stevens and The Blind Boys of Alabama.

 

Meshell Ndege Ocello | Bass

Three time Grammy-nominated bassist, singer, and songwriter, Meshell Ndege Ocello is known for challenging material that explores the politics of race, sex and love. Since her 1993 debut, she's built a discography of recordings that defy classification through progressive mixtures of jazz, R&B, hip-hop, and rock. Held in regard primarily for her bass playing and bold lyrics, her songwriting often examines dark interpersonal issues. Ndegeocello has toured opera houses and concert halls across the US and Europe. 

 

Chris Bruce | Guitar

Chris Bruce is an American bassist and guitarist. At the age of 14, started recording at studios in Chicago, and later in Detroit, with his older brother and various George Clinton affiliates. His professional career began with Wendy & Lisa in 1989. Later on he has worked with SealTrevor HornDoyle Bramhall IIJill Jones, Chris Connelly, Aimee Mann, Paula Cole, among many others.

 

 

 

Helga Davis | Background vocals

Helga Davis has been described as “a powerful vocalist with an almost operatic range and all the bruised sensuality of Jeanne Lee." She served as a principle actor in the 25th-anniversary international revival of Robert Wilson & Philip Glass's seminal opera Einstein on the Beach. Among the many works written for her are Faust's Box, written & directed by acclaimed contemporary music composer Andrea Liberovici; Oceanic Verses by Paola Prestini; and was also the co-star of The Temptation of St. Anthony directed by Robert Wilson, with score by Bernice Johnson Reagon of Sweet Honey in the Rock.  

 

The Twilite Tone (DJ/Production)

Anthony “The Twilite Tone” Khan is a BMI Award winning, Grammy-nominated producer, songwriter, and DJ. Tone grew up in Chicago in the mid 80s and early 90s. Surrounded by the diverse range of sounds the city offered during that period, Tone embraced the abstract and the concrete, walking the line between deep house and hip hop. He was influenced by his uncle, Hassan Khan, who married Chaka Khan in 1970. Among others, he has worked with Gorillaz, Kanye West, Common, Kendrick Lamar, Pusha T, Big Sean, Judith Hill, and John Legend. 

 

Brooklyn Youth Chorus (Background vocals)

Founded in 1992, the Grammy-winning Brooklyn Youth Chorus is a collective of young singers and vocal ensembles reimagining choral music performance through artistic innovation, collaboration, and an incredibly versatile range and repertoire. The New York Times has hailed the Chorus as “remarkable young singers,” who perform “with confidence, energy and tenderness.” The Chorus’s multi-level training program draws students from across New York’s five boroughs and combines intensive voice and musicianship study with exceptional performance experiences. The Chorus has appeared with world-class orchestras and conductors, including the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics, London and Atlanta symphonies, and Mariinsky Orchestra.  

 

Ford Theaters, Hollywood

The Ford Theatres Artists Partnership Program is a competitive process that provides independent artists, nonprofit organizations, producers the chance to co-present with the Ford Theatres in a historic 1,180-seat performing arts facility. Using a shared risk revenue model, participants receive preferred dates and access to the fully renovated venue, including lighting and sound equipment, technical production crew, marketing and box office support. Participants are responsible for bringing the proposed event to fruition at the Ford. Participants are also responsible for artist fees, production crew costs, and for executing targeted marketing efforts to reach and expand their audiences.
